September Meetings - - - TWO MEETINGS IN SEPTEMBER

1. Bonus Meeting at Bellefontaine Cemetery-Saturday September 6th at 10:30 AM.   We will be taking an entertaining bus tour of all of the World’s Fair-related sites at the famous BellefontaineCemetery. See where Fair officers, David Francis, Fair architects and the like are laid to rest.  We will have a knowledgeable Cemetery tour guide on the bus and you may get out at certain locations, if you like.  Reservation are required and forms will be sent out in a summer newsletter. Bellefontaine is located at 4947 West Florissant Ave., 63115; from Hwy. 40, take Kingshighway north and then go right on West Florissant to the main entrance on the left. We will meet outside the visitor center just inside the main entrance.  
  
 
2. Regular Meeting: St. Louis Public Library employees, Jean Gosebrink, Special Collections Specialist, and Adele Heagney, St. Louis History Specialist, will be talking about their new book, “Historic Photos of St. Louis,” which features outstanding images of St.Louis through the years. From the early waterfront, to the construction of Eads Bridge, through the 1904 World’s Fair and on to 1920s filling stations.  You will get a first-hand look at the development of the “Gateway to the West” through photos from the area’s most  well-known archives.
